Love is in the air...

We came back from winter break, I blinked, and then all of a sudden it's February! This is going to be a crazy (fun) month. We have our 100th day of school, Global School Play Day, Valentine's Day, and Lunar New Year - I can't wait!
This week we learned the sight word song for LOVE and wrote about things we love. We are even working on writing 100 Love Notes for our 100 days of school! We can't wait for you to come see all of our LOVE-ly work for our Family Valentine Workshop!

SNOWY DAY INSPIRED ART

Picture

We read the book, The Snowy Day, by Ezra Jack Keats. This is one of my favorite winter books to read to kindergarteners. The illustrations in the book are beautiful and we used chalk pastels and construction paper to recreate a winter scene from Peter's snowy day!

A couple of weeks ago we used chalk pastels to blend colors together to make the backgrounds. (And some of us realized our outfits matched our artwork! :)
This week we went back and used collage art to add buildings, snow, and Peter!

100th Day PREP

We're still a couple of days away from our 100th day of kindergarten but we started our preparations early. It's not a celebration without a crazy hat - and our crazy hats just happen to involve tons of learning too! :)

Readers and Writers!

Just a few shots of the kiddos working hard in their Reader's Notebooks and during reading groups...

Counting Collections

We love counting collections! Help your child remember to send in a collection of 100 things before the 100th day of school!

We love PE!

Rope climbing, rope swinging, scarf juggling...kindergarten PE is the BEST!
The students are also working hard to digitally publish their first books. About half of the students are done and we are hoping the rest of the class will finish recording next week. There has been some trouble sharing via the Bloomz app but I will try to post some examples here next week! Looking forward to our 100th day and Global School Play Day! - Mrs. Bowe

Learn more about Global School Play Day HERE! And check out Peter Gray's TEDx Talk about the importance of play below. The students are encouraged to bring a toy from home on Wednesday, February 7th. Some ideas include: board games, dolls, Legos, blocks, trucks, cars, racetracks, playing cards, empty cardboard boxes, markers, jigsaw puzzles, blankets (for forts), social games (charades, Pictionary, etc.)
